The Good, The Bad, The Grumbles

Journal Entry: Wed Jul 2, 2008, 8:23 PM
The Good: Ultimate Danny Phantom, with the help of my lovely and talented beta-reader, Cordria, is on schedule and being written and stuff. The episode/arc/segment/whatever you want to call it is a remake of the episode Maternal Instincts. Now if you've been paying attention to (or have even read a little bit of) UDP, you'd know that the set up for Maternal Instincts just wouldn't work in the UDP universe. So I tweaked it. Majorly. Instead of Maddie and Danny, Jack and Danny get to be stranded in Colorado at Plasmius' (who is a woman) mountain cabin.

Now if you know me, then you also know that I can't just change the cast for an episode. So far, we've seen the beginnings of a new Danny with a more optimistic attitude, the start of what could blossom into a full fledged TuckerxJazz pairing, an inner city showdown between Phantom and the ex-GIW spy Elliot who has been mutated by Phantom's DNA into a ghost monster called Proximus, evil interwoven plots laid out by Walker and Plasmius, and we're only on chapter 3!

The Bad: Has nothing to do with my story. I have to wait until some time this weekend to pick up a very special guest for the PRIME COMICS series. That's not really bad, per say, but I just don't like waiting.

The really bad news is, I guess, Transformers related. The season 2 finale airs this weekend on Cartoon Network. Since Canada gets the episodes a week in advance, I've already seen it on youtube. It was one of the best episodes yet, but what has me upset is the fact that there are so many loose ends that might not even be tied up. Cartoon Network never committed to a third season, so the EXTREME CLIFFHANGER ENDING we get at the end of the episode could, very well, never be answered.

It's possible that a comic book could answer any questions, but then, as compared to the TV series, how many people would go out of their way to get a comic book? I would if there was a comic shop near my house, but there isn't. So I'd be stuck having to read what happens on wikipedia. Sure, its full of info, but for me it would be like some totally hot babe having sex with me while I'm asleep. I don't know if that's even possible (from a guy's perspective), but it would definitely suck because I would never have been able to experience it first hand. ANYWAY . . .

And new episodes of the Spectacular Spider-Man are showing a decided absence from the network schedules. That's another bummer. I mean, that's why I even got out of bed on Saturdays. Now what do I have to look forward to?

*sigh*

I'll just have to cut my losses and pray against God's will that something happens to get me out of my job without ruining my reputation, that Transformers Animated will start a third season, and that waves 2 and 3 of the action figures appear in my Wal-Mart soon.

Wish me luck?

ONE HUNDRED

Journal Entry: Thu Jun 26, 2008, 7:46 PM
So I was writing Ultimate Danny Phantom, and then I realized . . . I had 100 chapters!

I'd celebrate this by doing something, but I'm too busy getting chapters 101-109 up and running.

So enjoy Prime Comics and my crossover pictures. A special guest from Twisted Kaiju Theater might be making an appearance soon, so be ready for that.

And yeah . . . that's all. Have a good one, DA.

Team Phantom Finalized!

Journal Entry: Fri Jun 6, 2008, 8:23 PM
To anyone who takes the time to read this, you may have noticed the newest addition to my gallery. It is a sketch (a poorly drawn one, mind you) of the lineup for Danny Phantom's hero team. I'll give you an abbreviated version of the summary in the picture's description. The world is in trouble, so Clockwork grabs a bunch of heroes from alternate time lines to help Danny Phantom save everyone.

Featuring:
Optimus Prime
Iron Man
(Super) Mario
Indiana Jones
King Leonidas
Master Shake
Samurai Jack
Master Chief
Obi-Wan Kenobi

I know it isn't a super awesome drawing. That being said, there are only a few things I really don't like about. One it is the Master Chief. I think he looks a little too scrawny and disproportionate. The other would be Indiana Jones. If you couldn't see him, he's the tiny feller with the whip sliding down Prime's leg trying to hold on to his hat. I wanted to draw him larger in the front with the other guys, but there was hardly any room for Leonidas, so I cut my losses.
It isn't a scene from the Reality Wars, just a group pic. I wanted to get Photoshop via torrent, but all of them sounded really suspicious. So I'll settle for my horrible hand drawn stuff.

Transformers Animated is starting to really bug me. Some of the episodes are good, but its falling back on morality and such. I've seen the episode where Waspinator was supposed to make an appearance. It is one of my least favorite episodes simply because it did not deliver. At all. Instead we see a snobby "Wasp" in flashbacks who sounds nothing like Waspinator. It redeemed itself a little at the end where Tom Kenny does his best to imitate Scott McNeil, and does a pretty good job. But the lack of Waspinator throughout the episode was rather disappointing.

The Spectacular Spider-Man. What else can I say about it? It did kinda fool me with the Green Goblin bit. Logically speaking Harry was the only real option, but I was still pulling for Norman. Black Cat was a welcome addition to the cast, especially since "Persona" was practically dripping with innuendo. And boy-howdy, do I love me some innuendo.

Ultimate Danny Phantom is moving right along. Currently, the story has entered the "Teacher of the Year" remake which will subtly touch on some sensitive material. With the bugs in it worked out, I hope it will be an enjoyable read for everyone.

Thanks for stopping by!

I AM IRON MAN!

First this

Now then... The movie was amazing. The best super hero movie to date and one of my favorite movies of all time. If you haven't seen it, go see it. If you've already seen it, go see it again. And make sure you stay after the credits.

Since Transformers Animated had to make room for the next Ben 10 series, which is unnecessary and only serves to give Gwen a larger chest region, we here in the US of A are forced to see episodes a week after our Canadian counterparts have seen them. Logically, this means that Canada is a week ahead of us. So while it is somewhat distressing, we have YouTube to provide us with new episodes. And torrents. Gotta love those torrents. I've seen this weeks episode "Garbage In, Garbage Out" was pretty good. Wierd Al reprises his role as Wreck-Gar (sp?) and does a really good job. G1 throwbacks in the form of Spike and his wife (Carly? Danielle? WTF?) make the episode very worthwhile. I'm not particularly fond of the create-a-former system the creators decided to go with, but if Wreck-Gar (sp?) was any indication, the future Autobots/Decepticons made from the All Spark will be memorable and amusing.

Thankfully (or not, depending on your POV) The Spectacular Spider-Man was not postponed in the USA. Apparently there are already enough campy shows on Kids WB that they didn't have to make a new one. Spidey's bouts are fascinating, to say the least. MJ strikes me as a slut, but I tend to be judgemental. I mean, I guess its kinda her fault Flash and Liz broke up (did anyone else cry?) but maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. The continuous Green Goblin plot is nicely woven into the episodes. I'm pretty sure its Norman. Harry wasn't the original GG, even though he abuses the Globulin Green formula and we're made to think he is, and this series really sticks to cannon with characters being their comic book counterparts.

Ultimate Danny Phantom dives into controversy. Or at least I hope it will. The current segment will be touching on some very, well, touchy issues. I hope it goes well. Next Ultimatized character design is Nocturne, so keep your eyes peeled.

If you bothered to read all that, thanks. Have a nice day.

SATURDAY, APRIL 5, 2008

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 5, 2008, 6:21 PM
Yeah, that last entry was an April Fool's joke. And nobody was like "ZOMFG, DON'T GO!", so I guess it wasn't a very good/convincing one at that. I'll have to get a new writer soon.

Transformers: Animated featured the second part of the season finale this morning; Megatron Rising. I liked it, but not as much as the first part. I don't know, I guess they build up to bringing Megatron back for a whole episode, and then he get's blown away ten minutes later. A classic comic book folley, but I can deal. Only thing I didn't really get was why Megatron was able to use the key, and to a further extent, use it to destroy. I guess he would be able to use it because the key basically gave him life. And he can use to destroy because he's evil. But whatever. I look forward to see where the series will go, especially what role professor Sumdac will play in Megatron's continued survival.

I thought there was a new Spectacular Spider-Man episode today, but alas, it was a rerun. Seriously though, who the hell puts out 5 episodes of something and then falls back on reruns? Maybe I'm new to the whole "follow a cartoon series progression from the beginning", but this is kinda making me angry. Basically, I want to see Black Cat. And Mary Jane. And maybe Venom. If Venom is just this series' Eddie Brock only painted black, I'll be extremely disappointed.

UDP got a new chapter today. The super awesome 3-on-3 chapter I promised, in my opinion, turned out to be a major let down. Too short, for one thing. I've been listening to "Mad World" by Gary Jules and I wanted to stick some emotional parts in there. It is somewhat out of context though, which is why I think its a let down. The emotional crap is going to be towards the end of the Reality Wars, where I'm going to really try to pluck at your heartstrings. But if this chapter is any indication, no tears will be shed.

In other news, a poker/videogame/prank call ex/potential-girlfriends party produced an epic fight. My friend beat the crap out of my other friend. J-Bear (the victor and closer friend of the two) managed to keep all of Booty-P's (the other and more distand friend) blood on his shirt instead of getting it all over the carpet. They were dangerously close to my 50 inch hi-def LCD TV and Blues' (yet another friend, this one is my tech savvy go-to guy) X-Box 360 Elite. Nothing was broken. I'm hoping that it quickly becomes the stuff of legend for at least a week and a half.

I have also come into possession of all 3 seasons of Danny Phantom, and can watch them at my leisure without having to traverse the incredibly complex and commercial riddled pages of Nickelodeon's website. There's also some extra stuff too. This means that I no longer have to look for episodes on my DVR for reference material. I have them all on my computer, readily accessible in case I'm having trouble, say, keeping a character in character. Really awesome stuff.

So until next time, thanks for reading my story and/or looking at my pictures.
